To control cockroaches (palmetto bugs, waterbugs), silverfish and ants (except pharaoh ants, fire ants, carpenter ants, harvester ants): Apply liberally, scattering under and behind refrigerator, stove, sink, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer, tubs; into openings around drains, water pipes and electrical conduits; and in cracks and crevices along baseboards and corners of cabinets, cupboards and closets. Remove all lower drawers in kitchen and bathroom cabinets, bedroom dressers and chests of drawers, then scatter liberally in drawer wells. Reapply as necessary. Any powder visible after application must be brushed into cracks and crevices or removed. Apply only in areas inaccessible to children and pets. Children and pets should not be in the treatment area until application is complete. Do not treat pets with this product. Avoid contamination of feed and foodstuffs. Avoid contamination of ornamental plants.

The four most common types of cockroaches in the USA are the German, Oriental, Brown-banded, and American Cockroach. Cockroaches are nocturnal, feeding primarily at night. They tend to scatter if exposed to light. If you see cockroaches active during the day, it is a sign of a large infestation. Boric acid powder kills roaches that ingest it, although it is slow-acting so it may take a week or more to be effective. Because it has a positive electrostatic charge, the powder clings to the bodies of roaches that walk through treated areas and is ingested when the roaches groom themselves. If it remains dry and undisturbed, boric acid powder will be effective for as long as it is left in place.
